The Thorens Reference Turntable uses active vibration isolating technology. This is not just a gimmick! I attended a demo during which this isolating technology could be engaged/disengaged on the fly, and I can confirm it has a very large influence. When engaged, the sound becomes much more clean, crisp, controlled, and precise, as well as much more “silent”, and when disengaged, the sound all of a sudden feels comparatively rough and messy.
