When I reviewed the LAiV Harmony DAC<\/a> in September last year, a complete range of other Harmony products was on the horizon. Three of the anticipated products are now available: the HP2A Preamp\/Headphone Amp, LExt IN2 Input Extension Interface, and LExt Phono Input Extension Interface.<\/p>\n

In this review, I will cover the HP2A and the LExt IN2.<\/p>\n

Harmony Range<\/h3>\n

The complete Harmony range consists of the Harmony DAC, HP2A Preamp\/Headphone Amp, LExt IN2 Input Extension Interface, LExt Phono Input Extension Interface, uDDC D-D Reclocker, Net2 Streamer, and GanM Mono Power Amplifiers (announced for late Q1 2025). The first four are available now, the uDDC is available for pre-order, the GanMs are slated for late Q1 2025, and the Net 2 is for Q3 2025.<\/p>\n

HP2A Class A Preamplifier Balanced Headphone Amplifier<\/h3>\n

The HP2A features a precision-matched discrete Resistor Ladder Volume Attenuator for ultra-smooth, noise-free volume control and a Discrete Class A Buffered Preamplifier. It also features a proprietary discrete Class A\/B power amplifier with four high-bandwidth Exicon MOS-FETs per channel.<\/p>\n

The amplifier is a True Balanced design, which means each audio channel has dedicated positive and negative signal paths. This architecture effectively minimizes crosstalk and reduces noise and distortion.<\/p>\n

As with any component in the Harmony range, the HP2A is crafted to deliver an outstanding user experience. Every design element aims to make operation easy, intuitive, and enjoyable while maintaining the highest audio performance standards.<\/p>\n

On the front panel, the HP2A features multiple headphone outputs: balanced XLR4 and 4.4mm connectors for those seeking enhanced sound fidelity and a single-ended 6.35mm connector for compatibility with a wide range of headphones.<\/p>\n

The Harmony LExt can enhance the audio setup via LE-LINK, adding either a Phono input or additional inputs to suit your growing needs.<\/p>\n

The front panel selector allows you to select the desired output mode. To suit your listening needs, you can choose between preamp only, headphone amp only, or preamp + headphone amp.<\/p>\n

A user-selectable volume limit control ensures moderate output during power-on, preventing sudden loudness. Sophisticated protection systems guard against DC, overload, and temperature issues.<\/p>\n

The HP2A can be fully controlled from the front panel or with the beautiful, milled-from-solid aluminum IR remote control. The latter features a mode switch, allowing it to be used with the Harmony DAC. Likewise, the Harmony DAC’s remote can be used with the HP2A.<\/p>\n
