Apogee Acoustics Incorporated founded by Jason Bloom and Leo Spiegel.<\/p>\n

1982<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Full Range, also known as “The Apogee” is the first full ribbon speaker released.<\/p>\n

1985<\/strong><\/p>\n

The legendary Scintilla is released to critical acclaim around the world.<\/p>\n

1986<\/strong><\/p>\n

Release of the original Duetta, a smaller and, more importantly, easier to drive Apogee.<\/p>\n

1987<\/strong><\/p>\n

Release of the Caliper, the smallest Apogee so far, and the revised Duetta II.<\/p>\n

1988<\/strong>
\nThe Diva, Apogee’s second 3-way with a true ribbon tweeter, enters production.
\nDuetta Signature was released, and it became Apogee’s most popular speaker.<\/p>\n

1989<\/strong><\/p>\n

The revised Caliper Signature is released.<\/p>\n

1990
\n<\/strong><\/p>\n

Apogee starts using Mylar instead of Kaptop in certain ribbons.
\n<\/strong><\/p>\n

Apogee’s smallest and cheapest speaker, the Stage, is released, the first with etched ribbon components.<\/p>\n

1991<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Centaurus range, Centaur Minor, Centaur, and Centaur Major are released, Apogee’s first hybrid range ribbon\/cone speakers.<\/p>\n

Scintilla production ends.<\/p>\n

1992<\/strong><\/p>\n

Release of the Grand series, Mini Grand, Studio Grand, and Grand, the company’s statement speaker.<\/p>\n

1994<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Slant range, a replacement range for the Centaurus, is released.<\/p>\n

End of the Centaurus range.<\/p>\n

1998<\/strong><\/p>\n

Home theatre LCR (Perseus), Ribbon Monitor, Column, and In-wall speakers were released.<\/p>\n

ADS Technology Inc. purchased Apogee.<\/p>\n

Stage production ends.<\/p>\n

Jason Bloom sells Apogee to ADS.<\/p>\n

1999<\/strong><\/p>\n

ADS closes Apogee Acoustics as it is considered not commercially viable, leaving owners without support for spares.<\/p>\n

Matt Carnicelli starts the Apogee Acoustics Users Group.<\/p>\n

2001<\/strong><\/p>\n

Graeme “Graz” Keet reforms Apogee Acoustics and starts supplying revised and upgraded spares for most of the Apogee line, improving the original performance using proprietary CNC ribbon machining equipment.<\/p>\n

2003<\/strong><\/p>\n

The establishment of Apogee Acoustic’s local service centers has begun. Operators trained by Graz to repair clients’ speakers with exclusive agreements to use Graz-revised Apogee Acoustics’ parts and installation procedures within their regions. First in the UK, then Switzerland, the Netherlands, East Coast USA, Germany, and West Coast USA.<\/p>\n

2004<\/strong><\/p>\n

Apogee Classic speaker build service is offered, and “special products”, a new reference Apogee Acoustic’s Definitive speaker is announced, taking the classic Apogee visual appeal but adding massive structural rigidity and considerably higher efficiency.<\/p>\n

Late 2004 saw the introduction of KLM2 & XLM2 series Mid\/tweeter ribbon parts available for Apogee speaker owners worldwide, for either home or installer installation.<\/p>\n

2006<\/strong><\/p>\n

The title holders granted the ability to use the www.apogeeacoustics.com domain for the first time. Introduction of the new Apogee Acoustics’ Synergy loudspeaker at the London Park Inn show (22nd- 24th September 2006), widely covered by the audio press, many clients, past and present, attended the show from all over Europe and the world.<\/p>\n

2007<\/strong><\/p>\n

Apogee bass restorations policy changed so all installations will be carried out exclusively by Apogee Acoustic’s (Graz) trained installers to establish quality control befitting the repair.<\/p>\n

Introduction of a new 4EMRTW Wired Return for new Apogee Acoustics Duettas<\/p>\n

2009<\/strong><\/p>\n

Introduction of a new 3EMRTW Wired Return for classic restoration kits.<\/p>\n

2010<\/strong><\/p>\n

New Apogee Acoustics’ KLM5 series Mid\/tweeter ribbon parts announced for classic Apogee speaker owners, home installation (excluding 3-element type Caliper\/Duetta\/Diva), or installer installation.<\/p>\n

2011<\/strong><\/p>\n

Improved MRTW Wired Return.<\/p>\n

2013<\/strong><\/p>\n

Structural improvements to the MRTW wiring.<\/p>\n

2020<\/strong><\/p>\n

Further structural and wire type enhancements to the MRTW wiring.<\/p>\n
