Even though I try to be as objective as possible when comparing equipment by keeping everything warmed up, always reviewing in the same system, using the same powercables in the same position of the same power extension block and placing the components in the same racks, still reviewing remains a relalive matter.
When dealing with second hand components, age and condition of the component are inevitably a factor. For example we heard major differences in sound when listening to a couple of Marantz CD94's. Also when comparing some classic Philips cd player's transports there were some really big differences, even though the transports were all CDM 1's. This could be attributed to aging. Therefore, the components may not perform up to their original level when we review them. So, when reading reviews about really old components, please take this into consideration.
For each review the circumstances were the same and also the reviewer is always the same person. To make the review easier to interpret, the component under review is often compared to other components in the setup. This gives you the possibility to form a better opinion of what constitues "the audioadvies.nl sound preference". This impression can be deepened further by reading more reviews and my background.
Even though my impressions aren't absolute, relative to other components at least you get a good idea. For a quick reference as well as extensive reviews, there is the Review section, in which all components are listed that ever populated the listening room.
Have fun reading the reviews!
